Insurance Product Information Document

As you may be aware, the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) was due to come into effect from Friday 23rd February 2018, but following a delay by the EU, the FCA has announced that insurers, product providers and intermediaries have until the 1st October 2018 to fully comply with the new regulations.

One of the most notable changes as a result of the IDD is the introduction of an Insurance Product Information Document ('IPID' for short). This replaces the current Key Facts document for all insurance policies (including home, pet & travel) and is designed to provide important information to customers in a standardised form.

Many insurers and providers, including Uinsure had already completed the work required to implement the IPID from the 23rd February, and as a result we are making the new document available in our system with immed

IPID documents must include the information below detailed below and should be provided to customers in the same way that the Key Facts used to be.

  1. What is the type of insurance?
  2. What is insured?
  3. What is not insured?
  4. Are there any restrictions on cover?
  5. Where am I covered?
  6. What are my obligations?
  7. When and how do I pay?
  8. When does the cover start and end?
  9. How do I cancel the contract?

There are separate IPID documents for buildings, contents, home emergency cover and legal protection.
